My first few weeks in the city were plagued with rain. Too often cool, blustery afternoons (by June standards, at least) convinced me to spend my afternoons under the covers with a cup of tea. Other times it was heavy humid storms that coated your skin in an awful combination of sweat and dew immediately upon stepping outside.
Not anymore.
The sun is shining and I’ve got a suspicion (heavily supported by weather.com) it’s here to stay.
So, with a few out of town visitors in tow (Hi Mom and Ally!), the weekend was spent traipsing about the bright and shiny city streets.
Looking back at the city from Brooklyn Heights.
Shady parks and cold iced teas offering sweet, sweet respite from the heat.
Standing in amazement at the World Trade Center construction.
Making the weekly trip to the market (and taking piles of veggies home!).
Enjoying cool breakfasts al fresco at a restaurant I can’t wait to tell you about
And being simultaneously blinded and overwhelmed (in the best way possible, of course) in Times Square.
I’ve got one more sure to be drool worthy dinner with the family this evening before they leave tomorrow (and I slip into profound depression).
I’m hoping to sneak in a quick workout before but if time evaporates and I can’t, I’m calling the miles covered over the past few days good enough!
